DSG PROJECT BRZ WINTER SET UP
The DSG BRZ has been on the road for three years now and we spent a lot of that on the summer build but this winter, we decided the BRZ deserved a serious upgrade, so, in collaboration with our partners, we bring you the first DSG Project BRZ Winter Set Up.
Our thought process on this was the usual focus on daily drivability while enhancing the performance of the car during even the snowiest of days. So, we got new suspension, sick winter tires and new winter wheels and we're still thinking up new ideas every day!
SUSPENSION
For suspension, we teamed up with Fortune Auto to prototype a very special set of DSG Edition 500 Series Coilovers. Now, we can't say what the prototype is exactly, just yet, but what we can say is we had these custom made to provide a 1 inch lift to give the BRZ some clearance on those snowy days. We adjust dampening about mid way between soft and hard to provide good balance between performance and daily drivability.
WHEELS
Oh wheels, they're the thing that really makes the look aren' they. For our winter wheels, we wanted something that our customers and fans would actually get for the coldest and arguably, dirtiest season of the year. We went with Kansei's flagship KNP wheel. Not only is this a clear departure from our summer Gram Lights 57Transcend summer wheels but this has that awesome rugged aesthetic we were going for. For color we went for bronze and there's actually a particular reason. With salt and slush on the roads, black gets filthy in a new york minute, you're better off with a bronze for the slush or a bright silver for the salt, either works way better.
TIRES
Arguably the single most important aspect of any winter set up, we couldn't skip on winter tires when you're outfitting them to a sports car. We went with the Nitto SN3 High Performance Studless Winter Tire. Some of the features that caught our eye on these were deep inner blocks for slushy snow, larger outer block for grip, wide center rib for stability, tapered evacuation grooves and large inner channels to make sure these tires real dig through the crap.
